It was built from a Phase 2 research file dated 2026-11-03, company by company, from each company's own website, and the 20 companies were approved one by one in review on 2026-11-03.

How listings were verified

• A company's own website beats directories whenever they conflict. Directory phone numbers, addresses and license numbers were deliberately not used where they differed from the company's own site.
• License numbers appear only where the company's own website publishes one. Only 3 of the 20 companies in this guide publish a license number on their own website: Long Island Cesspool Co., JET Cesspool Service and East-Nor Cesspool. JET's number is a Consumer Affairs number whose issuer is not clarified on its own site; it is not an SCDHS number and is not presented as one. The rest publish only a claim of being licensed and insured, without a number, or publish no license mention at all.
